25 DUSA members attended DUSA Benchmark Factory Visiting to STE Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd. on October 13th.

STE Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SANY Heavy Industry Chain, whose main business is the research and development, production and sales of four wheels and one belt, reducer, slewing bearing, filter, hydraulic valve, gearbox, axle and new energy electric drive products. STE has a total investment of 5 billion yuan, covering an area of 1036 mu (about 170.7 acres) and a plant area of 360,000 square meters. With 1,800 employees, over 3,000 sets of advanced intelligent equipment, and more than 150 automated production lines, STE's annual sales reach 6.5 billion yuan.

DUSA Members visited two lighthouse workshops at STE, one to produce speed reducers and another for crawlers.  

The factory tour left the attendees thoroughly impressed with the cutting-edge advancements in production processes. The intelligent manufacturing techniques showcased were truly awe-inspiring. Members had the opportunity to witness firsthand how automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics intertwine to create a seamless and efficient production system.

Following the factory tour, a discussion was held, where members actively engaged with the representatives from the STE Changshu. Alexandra Fong, DUSA Board of Director, highly appreciated STE Changshu opening the factory and hosting this event.

One of the main areas of interest revolved around the challenges encountered during the process of intelligent upgrading. Members were keen to understand the hurdles faced by STE in implementing and integrating intelligent technologies to enhance their manufacturing capabilities. By discussing these challenges, attendees gained valuable insights into the practical aspects of transforming traditional manufacturing processes into intelligent systems.

Additionally, the market conditions and changes this year were also a key topic of discussion. These questions provided participants with a broader perspective on the future trends of the industry.

This is the first time for DUSA to organize a benchmark factory visiting to a big-size state-owned enterprise which proved to be an enlightening experience for all the attendees. Through this event, members were able to get more intuitive understanding of state-owned enterprises in China, witness the exciting possibilities that intelligent manufacturing holds for the future and gain valuable industry insights.
